Happy 50th!

The Snowy Day

Ezra Jack Keats' beloved picture book, The Snowy Day, didn't just win the Caldecott Medal, achieve great critical success, and sell millions of copies. It also transformed children's literature forever with its no-fuss portrayal of an African-American child and its modern art-inspired collage style of illustration.
2012 marks the fiftieth anniversary of this remarkable book's publication. To celebrate, Viking Children's Books is issuing a special anniversary edition of the book, complete with bonus material. The first-ever major exhibition of Keats' original artwork has been organized by The Jewish Museum, NYC and will tour the country from Fall 2011 into 2013. And the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation has its own festivities planned for this year of Keats. Please explore this site to find out more about what's in store.
