The benefits of audio books!

At the Wellesley Free Library, we LOVE audiobooks, and we know our patrons do too!  They are great for car trips, days home sick, and shared listening.  But isn't reading "real" books better?  Won't children lose reading skills if they do a lot of listening?

Introduce your kids to the Minuteman Library Network's Collection of digital titles

The Minuteman Library Network has expanded its services with a new digital collection website experience just for kids & teens. The main digital collection, digital.minlib.net, now has a separate site to provide a safe and easy browsing experience for kids & teens.

The Minuteman Library Network, and all its member libraries, recognizes the need to provide a safe environment for kids & teens to browse library materials. Just as the children's & teen sections of the physical libraries are sectioned off, the same experience is now available on the digital collection. This appealing and user-friendly page contains eBooks & audiobooks. Browsing can be done by subject, reading level or interest level. The Kid’s & Teen Collection site filters the overall digital collection to just show Children’s and Young Adult content, which gets kids & teens to the titles they want faster! This new service, powered by OverDrive, is free for users with a library card. Digital titles are available anytime, anywhere and expire automatically, so no need to worry about late fees.

Hoopla is here! Access movies, audio books, & music for free!

Why are we so excited?  Beginning March 3rd, Wellesley Library Card holders will have access to thousands of movies, television shows, music albums and audiobooks--all available for mobile and online access through Hoopla.  You may stream on your computer or use the Hoopla app to view and listen on your phone or tablet.  AND most importantly, there is no waiting.  The titles are ALWAYS available! 

Visit the library, sign up for the class on March 25th, or simply stop by Open Lab on Monday 1-4 pm or Tuesday 6-8 pm. for more information and assistance.
